A Fan Dealing With the Death of Michael Jackson

Yes, I'm a real Michael Jackson fan, and the news of his untimely death has hit me as if a close family member has passed.

I'm the same age as Michael, actually I'm twelve days older. I happen to be an African American male, but I can assure you that most guys my age no matter what race, or what country for that matter, at some point dreamed of being like Michael Jackson.

How do we deal with the death of someone we admired so much at a point in our lives. Well, for me, I'll grab a bunch of his best albums and continue to listen to his music. I also gain comfort from writing about my feelings.

For me, his days with his brothers as the Jackson 5 were the most memorable. I remember lots of kids in the neighborhood where I grew up, formed small singing groups and practiced dance steps after school.

These were the good old days, and as I remember, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 was a huge part of making those days "the good old days".

Is this worthy of an article? Frankly, I don't know, but I just felt like I needed to write about my feelings because me and my wife are simply heart broken.

Yes, I know he's been accused of molestation on multiple occasions, but as with anyone who's been charged with a crime, he or she is expected to stand trial, which he did, and accept the decision of the courts, which he did.

This was the "King of Pop", and in my opinion, Michael Jackson arguably could be considered the greatest performer of all times, and I think many of you will agree.

Fortunately, I was blessed to have attended a Jackson 5 concert at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, and I tell you, from that day forward, I've never seen a child performer like Michael Jackson.

Again, you may ask, why am I writing an article on this. Well, since writing seems to help me deal with this tragedy, I figure maybe more folks may benefit from writing as well. No matter how you look at it, this guy touched millions of lives.

Can we forgive some of his alleged bad behaviors? Some may say never, but I say leave the judging to the courts, and the courts said innocent. Yes, most of his life was filled with fame and fortune, but I believe he's also done his share of suffering.

Michael Jackson deserves to rest in peace as much as anyone else. I certainly hope that those who may not agree, just stop for a moment and consider the legacy this man has left on the world of music. Ask yourself, if he were found guilty on the molestation charges, would the legacy be tarnished? I'm sure the answer would be yes.

However, the fact is, he was acquitted, so the legacy should remain untarnished. We love you Michael, R.I.P., and condolences to the Jackson Family.

2009: Death

On June 25, 2009, Jackson collapsed at his rented mansion at 100 North Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles. Attempts at resuscitating him by his personal physician were unsuccessful. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics received a 911 call at 12:22 p.m. (PDT), arriving three minutes and seventeen seconds later at Jackson's location. He was reportedly not breathing and CPR was performed.Resuscitation efforts continued both en route to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, and for an hour further after arriving at approximately 1:13 p.m. (20:13 UTC).He was noted to have been in cardiac arrest by the paramedics who attended him at his house. Jackson was pronounced dead at approximately 2:25 p.m. local time (21:25 UTC).^[Rumors and news of Jackson's death broke web records, triggering a cyberspace traffic jamand creating severe traffic spikes to websites such as Google Facebook, Twitter and Wikipedia. Vigils were held by members of the general public after the death.
